See Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin Turn To Crime in New "Going in Style" Trailer

Warner Bros. has released its first trailer for heist comedy Going in Style, due out next year. The movie stars three Oscar winning, acting veterans - Michael Caine (Hannah and Her Sisters), Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby) and Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), who play three friends that choose to leave their straight-and-narrow path and to follow a new path into a life of crime. When their pension becomes a corporate casualty and they find it increasingly difficult to pay the bills, the trio decide to embark on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that left them with nothing.

We now live in a world full of remakes and sequels and this film is no different. Going in Style, the third movie to be directed by Zach Braff (after Garden State and Wish I Was Here), is an updated remake of the 1979 film of the same name which starred George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg as the geriatric thieves.

I have not seen the original film, which I may have to do before the 2017 version is released, so I cannot compare the two but from the trailer this looks like it will be a funny, light-hearted crime caper that I will have to see.

Going in Style in due out on the 7th of April, 2017

December 2016 - Passengers, Rogue One and more...

When it was announced that the Star Wars franchise was returning to the big screen, fans were told that not only would they be getting another trilogy, which began last December with The Force Awakens, but there would also be stand-alone anthology films and the first of these is released on Thursday.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, or simply Rogue One, is set before the original trilogy but after Revenge of the Sith when tensions were high and conflict reigned through the galaxy. The strength of the Empire is growing and the Death Star is near completion but a Rebel Alliance has formed to stop this; to steal the plans for the Death Star. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a rebellion soldier, has been set the important mission to retrieve these plans with the help of other rebels but Jyn doesn't realise she is in for something bigger than she thinks.

Before returning to save the galaxy next year, Chris Pratt joins Jennifer Lawrence in Passengers as James Preston and Aurora Lane, two interstellar travellers on a routine journey to a new home planet. Like their fellow travellers, Jim and Aurora begin their 120 year trip in suspended animation but just 30 years in, the pair are woken from their hibernation and discover that waking up early is not all bad, but as romance grows between them, they are forced to solve the mystery of why they were awoken early and how to save the 5,000 passengers onboard.

The second Christmas comedy released this month is Why Him? When Ned (Bryan Cranston) and family visit his daughter Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) at Stanford, he meets her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley boyfriend Laird (James Franco) and asks that very question. Laird has no filter between his brain and mouth so Ned does not agree with his daughter's choice of boyfriend, and when he discovers Laird's plan to propose, his panic level goes through the roof.

Released online in a few days is Army of One, a comedy based on the true story of Gary Faulkner (Nicolas Cage), an unemployed handyman and ex-con from Colorado USA who receives a vision from God (Russell), telling him to travel to Pakistan and capture Osama Bin Laden. Faulkner begins his unusual quest armed only with a sword bought from a television shopping channel, and whilst on his journey he make new friends in Pakistan but makes an enemy out of the CIA and the US military, who are confused by his mission.

When successful New York ad executive Howard (Will Smith) suffers the loss of his daughter in Collateral Beauty, he is left in deep despair, he is unable to reach to his friends Whit (Edward Norton), Simon (Michael Pena) and Claire (Kate Winslet) so instead searches for answers from the Universe by writing letters addressed  to love, time and death. Amazingly, his is visited by the human embodiments of the three concepts (Keira Knightley, Jacob Latimore and Helen Mirren) and discovers that loss can reveal moments of real meaning and beauty.

Despicable Me 3: A Very Eighties Trailer

After two Despicable Me movies and a not-so-well-received Minions spin-off, Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Despicable Me 3. This time, Lucy, Gru and his lovable yellow henchmen are back to face their most diabolical villain yet, Balthazar Bratt, a former child star of the eighties who cannot seem to shake off the decade.

The moonwalking, shoulder-pad wearing Bratt is clearly stuck in the days of his stardom, using exploding Rubik's Cubes, bubble-gum that takes the name to giant proportions and a keytar with the power to rid Gru of his clothes, all in an effort to gain world domination.

Steve Carell and Kirsten Wiig return to reprise their roles as Gru and Lucy, and Trey Parker, creator of South Park and Team America: World Police, joins the cast as the above over-the-top bad guy, Balthazar Bratt.

Despicable Me 3 is due out on the 30th of June, 2017.

Margot Robbie Returns As Harley Quinn In Gotham City Sirens

It feels like whoever is in charge of the DC Extended Universe at Warner Bros is making it up as they go along, with no obvious pattern or structure to their movie lineup. The most successful shared universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has always been seen to be heading in a clear direction, with several origin stories always culminating in group movies, like The Avengers and Age of Ultron, and then adding cross-over stories like Civil War and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok with pre-established characters in later phases but DCEU doesn't seem to be following a similar discernable route.

And now, to follow their non-pattern, Warner Bros. announced on Tueday that they will be adding more characters new to their roster as Suicide Squad director, David Ayer and Margot Robbie team up to bring us a movie adaptation of the short-lived DC Comics series Gotham City Sirens, in which Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn to join other female DC villians. Harley was undoubtedly the best part of this summer's blockbuster, so there is hope for the movie but her co-characters have yet to be named, let alone cast.

So far, DC's Extented Universe has got been recieved well by cinema-goers and critics alike, but hopefully by the time this Suicide Squad spin-off does arrive, the Universe will have gotten the ratings that the creators originally intended, with the help of movies coming over out over the next couple of years.

The first of these is Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, and is due out on the 2nd of June, 2017.

"Fast 8" Becomes "The Fate of the Furious": New Trailer Here

The last couple of weeks has seen a flurry of trailers being released for next year's summer blockbusters but the latest one is possibly the most crazy, action packed trailer yet and has almost had the most promotion.

Over the past week, social media has been abuzz with new details of the eighth film in the Fast and the Furious franchise. We found out that next year's instalment, the film we previously knew as Fast 8, now is officially titled The Fate of the Furious, but that's not all... we were also treated to a video, a new poster and a teaser for the full trailer which was released last night.

Last Monday, @FastFurious gave us a slightly emotional look back on Twitter, of the Fast franchise with Vin Diesel and friends who stressed the importance to family within the series.

Then on Friday, Twitter gave us a fifteen second peak at the trailer to come, telling us to tune in to the full trailer, due to be streamed live on Facebook but that was yesterday though, sorry!

And yesterday on Instagram, the first poster for the movie was released with the words "Family no more." A conflict with last Monday's video?

Finally, last night we were shown the new trailer in all its beauty, and here it is...

Family no more. Now it makes sense. For someone who puts importance on why, Dom must have a reason for going against his own beliefs. In this internationally set movie that stretches from the arctic to Cuba, the franchise has seemingly been flipped upside down as Dom works with (or is it for?) the international terrorist Cypher, played by Charlize Theron. This returns Dom's relationship with Hobbs to that of Fast Five - the hunted and the hunter, but one constant does remain: the themes of action and destruction, with even more buildings, cars and even the arctic ice sheet smashed.

The Fate of the Furious is due for release on the 14th of April,

First Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Image Shows Adorable Baby Groot

Marvel has released a new picture of scene stealer and star of last week's Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, Baby Groot, in an adorable little Ravagers suit.

This is the first official image released by the studio, possibly to try and keep the Guardians movie out of the shade of the new Spiderman: Homecoming trailer, but also to help promote their charitable campaign, Heroic Acts for Heroic Causes, set up with Save the Children to bring "help and hope to kids around the world".

In case anyone missed it, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer is here.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 is due for release on the 5th of May, 2017

Spiderman: Homecoming Mixes Heroes And High School

Last night, fans got to see the one of the most anticipated trailers when the Spiderman: Homecoming trailer was shown for the first time on the late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Homecoming will be Peter Parker's first solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Tom Holland's second outing as the wall-crawler after his appearance in Captain America: Civil War.

Wednesday's teaser gave us 18 seconds of the upcoming film, giving us our first look at the upgraded spidey suit with web-wings and we got to see Jon Favreau again, for the first time since Iron Man 3, as Happy Hogan.

In the full 137 second trailer, we get to see Peter as an awkward student and as Spidey, saving New York and battling against the new big bad Vulture, played by Micheal Keaton, as well as the police and the Avengers (okay, they're really bank robbers wearing Avengers masks). There's a lot more of Tony Stark and a little bit of Iron Man too, so we know that RDJ's role is not just a brief cameo. And I cannot not mention the music, Time to Pretend by MGMT, amazing choice of song!!

Spiderman: Homecoming is due for release on the 7th of July, 2017.

Lifeguards On Duty: New "Baywatch" Trailer Is Here

Dwayne Johnson has a busy twelve months ahead of him, starring in movies like the new Jumanji sequel and the latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise; Fast 8, but today he gave us our first look at his new Baywatch film.

From the trailer, it seems we are going to get a very fuuny R-rated action comedy that parodies everything that made the 90's TV show what it was, including the slow motion running, the scantily clad lifeguards and the extremely dramatic rescues.

"Why does it always look like she's running in slow-mo?"
                        - Alexandra Daddario as Summer Quinn

Johnson takes over from David Hasselhoff, who played the lead character Mitch Buchanan in the original TV show, and stars alongside Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach, who replaces Pamela Anderson as the iconic character, CJ Parker.

Baywatch is due for release on the 12th of May, 2017

Emma Watson Thriller "The Circle" Gets First Trailer

Everybody knows that next year Emma Watson will become Belle in Disney's live-action remake of Beauty of the Beast but after marrying her prince, the actress is set to join Tom Hanks and John Boyega in their new techno-thriller, The Circle.

Based on the Dave Eggers' novel of the same name, the movie follows Mae Holland, a recent graduate who found work with innovative tech firm, the Circle. After an interview that involves answering questions about her favourite Beatle or video game character, Mae starts at the company where she meets fellow employee Kalden (Boyega) and the two strike up a relationship. Whilst working at the Circle however, she comes to realise her dream job is not what she thought it was.

In the film, Tom Hanks plays Bailey, the charismatic founder of the Circle who believes that the way to finding perfection in humanity is complete transparency as “without secrets, without the hoarding of knowledge and information, we can finally realize our potential”, but to reach this level of transparency, Bailey is a great believer of the surveillance state.

Just how far Bailey will go to perfect humanity is unknown (unless you've already read the novel, no spoilers please!), but as he states himself, "Knowing is good. Knowing everything is better."

The Circle is due for release on the 28th of April, 2017

New The Mummy Trailer: Welcome to a World of Gods and Monsters

Yesterday we got to see the exciting new trailer for next year's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Now Universal has released the first full trailer for their upcoming reboot of The Mummy, which is set to kick of the studio's Monster Movie Universe.

The new remake stars Tom Cruise as the lead character, so the movie was always going to head away from the direction of the previous Mummy movies and become a more action-packed blockbuster. The trailer shows us just how action-packed this film will be as we see Tom Cruise's character die within the first thirty seconds before he then jumps back into life on the autopsy table. The trailer also shows us that there will also be a dash of the horror genre mixed into the film and most probably, throughout the new movie universe.

In this film, we meet the titular monster Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella), as well as Dr Henry Jekyll, or is it Mr Hyde (Russell Crowe). If the film is a success, which is more than likely, then we will see the rest of the universe take shape as other monsters appear, including The Invisible Man (Johnny Depp), Wolf Man and Dracula.

Though safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.

The Mummy is due for release on the 9th of June, 2017

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer - Take A Look!

Just in case anyone hasn't seen the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer that Marvel Studios released within the last couple of days, I have left it just below.

The first movie starring our favourite cosmic heroes was a risk for Marvel Studios, with them not being very well known characters outside of the comic book fandom, but the risk paid off (literally) and now they're back for more.

Although the teaser was full of action and humour, it didn't give away much more than we already knew about the upcoming film. The scene with Quill and Gamora's awkward reveal was definitely a highlight as we got our first look at new character and fan favourite, Mantis, but to be honest, we all know that Baby Groot stole the show.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 is due for release on the 5th of May, 2017
