COULD EMILY BLUNT BE THE NEXT MARY POPPINS?
With Disney currently remaking a lot of it's classic movies, with recent releases such as last year's Cinderella and next month's The Jungle Book, their attention is now focused on Mary Poppins, which in September 2015, it was announced that they would be making a sequel to the 1964 box office hit.
Emily Blunt is currently in talks with Disney, according to Variety, about taking over the iconic role played by Julie Andrews, although who will assume the equally iconic role of Bert, brilliantly portayed by Dick Van Dyke, is still unknown. The film will be directed by Rob Marshall, which will reunite him with Blunt after previously working together on Disney's screen adaptation of the Broadway musical, Into the Woods.
The latest Mary Poppins story will be set twenty years after the original, during the depression-era of London, and will follow Mary as she continues her adventures with the Banks family.
The film is still in the early stages of production and no official release date has been announced but we will next see Emily Blunt in The Huntsman: Winter's War, due out in the UK on the 8th of April, 2016.
