Star Wars Episode VIII Filming is Confirmed
As the latest movie in the Star Wars saga began filming on Monday at Pinewood Studios, Disney and new director, Rian Johnson, who is taking the reins from JJ Abrams, have released a few seconds of footage from the first day of filming which picks up seconds after the ending of The Force Awakens where we see Rey (Daisy Ridley) meeting the self-exiled Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as she hands him his lightsaber.
In the upcoming film, the current cast including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver will be joined by new cast members such as Benicio Del Toro, known for films like The Usual Suspects and Sicario, as well as Laura Dern, who starred in last year's Wild with Reese Witherspoon and Kelly Marie Tran, a relatively unknown actress best known for TV roles in shows like Adam Ruins Everything and Ladies Like Us. No character details have yet been released for the new cast.
With the un-named Episode VIII's current release of December 2017 and Rogue One due out at the end of this year, Star Wars fans have plenty to look forward too.
