Will Ant Man and the Wasp be R-rated?

A SUITABLE RATING?

With the success of the R-rated Deadpool movie, it seems that the rest of Hollywood is trying to follow suit, with next month's Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice having an R-rated director's cut when it is released on DVD and Blu-ray, as well as Hugh Jackman's final turn as Wolverine already been hinted at as being R-rated, with the release of the first teaser trailer at last summer's Comic-Con showing the titular character giving the middle finger, or more accurately, the middle claw and it has also now been confirmed that 20th Century Fox are definitely aiming for the R-rating.

The latest news in the battle for the more adult audience is that Ant Man and the Wasp is trying to further up the ante with the confirmation of an NC-17 rating.

Of course, this is a joke though. This is the director of Ant Man, Peyton Reed, making fun of Deadpool's R-rating influence on other comic book movies. Deadpool works with the rating because of its source material and other films may be suitable too, like Wolverine 3 or even Suicide Squad, coming out this summer, but does this mean that because of the popularity of one film, every other film to follow should be the same?

The sequel to Ant Man, Ant Man and the Wasp, is due in cinemas out on the 6th of July, 2018.
