THIS MONTH AT THE UK CINEMA

Hey guys, it's March tomorrow and there's more great movies due out this month, so lets get started.

My Movie of the Month, the film I am most looking forward to in March, is Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The second movie from the DC Extended Universe follows on from the events of the movie that kicked it off, Man of Steel, and now Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) fears the consequences of Superman's (Henry Cavill) actions if they continue to go unchecked, so Batman takes on Superman, but whilst they are fighting a larger threat emerges and the two heroes must align in order to protect their cities.

 

There are plenty more movies out though this month and as Dawn of Justice is released at the end of this month, I thought I would go through the rest in backwards chronological order, so...

Released on the same day as Batman vs. Superman is Disney's Zootropolis. Set in a world without humans, this is a city like no other. Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), an optimistic bunny, determined to do some good in the world, joins the police force but when she meets Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a fast talking fox, they have to work together to crack a big case.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is the second film to come out and compete against Batman vs. Superman for audience members. In this long awaited sequel to the original 2002 film, Toula (Nia Vardalos) and Ian (Josh Corbett) are facing marital problems whilst having to contend with a teenage daughter and another, even bigger and fatter wedding.

This month, Rock the Kasbah finally comes to British cinemas. This comedy drama, based on real-life events tells the story of Richie Lanz (Bill Murray), a has-been rock manager, stranded in Kabul, who finds Salima Khan (Leeb Lubany), a talented teenager with a beautiful voice. Richie teams up with a group of unlikely helpers, including a mercenary (Bruce Willis) and a hooker (Kate Hudson) to help his new protogee compete on the TV show, Aghan Star.

Fifty Shades of Black is a parody of the 2015 hit, Fifty Shades of Grey. In this film, an inexperienced college student meets a wealthy businessman whose sexual practices put a strain on their relationship.

  

The third film from one of the world's most successful animated franchises, Kung Fu Panda 3, sees Po (Jack Black) reunite with his father, Li (Bryan Cranston), where they travel to a panda sanctuary and the two must defeat a powerful new enemy, a yak (J.K. Simmons) who gains strength by stealing the life force of others.

The third film from another big franchise, Allegiant, from the Divergent Series, is released a day earlier. In the film, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) escape through the wall that encloses their city and once outside, shocking new truths are revealed. A battle threatening all of humanity begins and the pair have to decide who they can trust as well as having to make some impossible choices.

Hail, Caesar! is a comedy with a star-packed cast. Set in the 1950s, a fictional film about real-life Hollywood fixer, Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin), who tries to discover what happened when a cast member goes missing during filming.

The first film to be released on this list is London Has Fallen. Sequel to the action-packed Olympus Has Fallen, this time Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) accompanies President Asher (Aaron Eckhart) to London, where he is due to attend the funeral of the British Prime Minister but what starts as a heavily protected event, with the attendance of major leaders from all over the world, turns into a deadly assassination attempt and only Banning, President Asher and an untrusting MI5 agent can stop it.
